To raise Premium Commercial Red, Red Baldy, Black and Black Baldy Simmental/Angus commerical  bred heifers for the astute cattleman, that function and excel in our Canadian climate  on traditional diets of forages and grasses.

Our Program

We work with some of the top commerical herds in Western Canada and select only the top cut of replacement females that will go on to be high revenue long living females that produce offspring that will be in high demand for the commerical cattle man & woman, feedlot, the packer and ultimately the consumer.  

We predominately breed our heifers to calve in April and the start of May.  Because we do not have a big grain land base our heifers are designed to survive on a more roughage diet of forages, grasses and maintain an excellent body score.  Turned out to pastures in mid to late May and returned home in October.  

 Heifers are sold in packages that suit your needs for your operation.

A Little bit about who we are!

I am Craig Davidson along with my wife, Karla, and our two children, Ava, and Hudson own and operate BlackSand Cattle Company.  BlackSand Cattle Company originated out of my parents herd of commerical and purebred cattle, Sandy Acres Simmental.  In the spring of 2010 Karla and I bought the family farm and today I am the 5th generation on the Davidson homestead.  My parents Ralph and Wendy Davidson manage and run the day to day operations at the farm.

2016 will mark the 130th anniversary for the farm.

Today we run 250 premium commercial yearling heifers that we breed and sell every fall as bred heifers.  Our goal is to raise the best that will leave their mark in a positive way for their new owners and the cattle industry.
